General Troubleshooting Steps
**Check your system specs** Important! - Make sure your system meets Rotwood's system requirements. If it does not, you are still welcome to file a bug report; just make sure to let us know what the computer specs are.
Anything below the minimum is very likely to cause significant issues with the game.

**Remove client mods** Important!
Using unsupported client modifications is not recommended. Follow these steps to remove any modifications to the game and return it to a trusted state.
-- Please note that Client Mods may corrupt your save file and if the issue persists, you may also need to start a new save to resolve your issue.
Remove launch options - Using debug launch options may cause undesirable game behavior.
- Right-click Rotwood. in your Steam Library > "Properties";
- Select the "General" tab;
- Remove everything from the "Launch Options" text box
My game won't start anymore - If you removed launch options (as mentioned above) and the issue persists, AND if you made changes to Graphics settings and are now completely unable to start the game, you can force your settings to be reset by:
- Add --reset-settings to Rotwood's Launch Options in Steam.
- Run the game.
- Remove --reset-settings from Rotwood's Launch Options in Steam.
This settings reset will not affect your game progress.
Verify the integrity of your game's files on Steam - Verifying the integrity of your game files ensures that there are no game files missing and corrupted files are replaced.
- Right-click Rotwood. in your Steam Library > "Properties";
- Select the "Installed Files" tab;
- Click the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button;
- When the process is complete, launch Rotwood
Ensure that there are no programs running that may interfere with Steam - If you are encountering issues or poor performance, you may want to check if you have any applications/programs running that are potentially, negatively affecting Steam. Check and update your drivers - Outdated graphics or audio drivers are two of the first things to check when any software is having problems. Make sure that all of your drivers are updated to the latest version.

Security software - Unfortunately malware, firewall and virus protection programs can be a bit unpredictable at times. Try disabling anything you have running then try running the game again.
3rd-Party Software - Pop-up blockers, ad-blockers, and other types of software running in the background can sometimes cause problems. Turn off anything you have running in the background then try running the game again.
Gamepad/Controller Troubleshooting - If you are having trouble using a controller or gamepad when playing Rotwood, here are a couple of troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Disconnect any unused gamepads or other similar devices as they may be causing a conflict;
- Restart your computer;
- Update the firmware on your gamepad;
- Disable Steam Input for Rotwood;
- Move your mouse cursor to the corner of the screen and place your mouse on a stable, non-glass surface to prevent accidental mouse movements.
