General Troubleshooting Steps
**Remove client mods** Important!
Using unsupported client modifications is not recommended. Follow these steps to remove any modifications to the game and return it to a trusted state.
-- Please note that Client Mods may corrupt your save file and if the issue persists, you may also need to start a new save to resolve your issue.
Remove launch options - Using debug launch options may cause undesirable game behavior.
- Right-click Rotwood. in your Steam Library > "Properties";
- Select the "General" tab;
- Remove everything from the "Launch Options" text box
Verify the integrity of your game's files on Steam - Verifying the integrity of your game files ensures that there are no game files missing and corrupted files are replaced.
- Right-click Rotwood. in your Steam Library > "Properties";
- Select the "Installed Files" tab;
- Click the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button;
- When the process is complete, launch Rotwood
Ensure that there are no programs running that may interfere with Steam - If you are encountering issues or poor performance, you may want to check if you have any applications/programs running that potentially, negatively affecting Steam. Please visit Steam Support's guide for more information on this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289
Download and install the latest operating system updates - Ensure that your operating system has been updated to the latest version. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-windows-3c5ae7fc-9fb6-9af1-1984-b5e0412c556a
Check and update your drivers - Outdated graphics or audio drivers are two of the first things to check when any software is having problems. Make sure that all of your drivers are updated to the latest version.
Check your system specs - Make sure your system meets Rotwood's system requirements. If it does not, you are still welcome to file a bug report; just make sure to let us know what the computer specs are.
Security software - Unfortunately malware, firewall and virus protection programs can be a bit unpredictable at times. Try disabling anything you have running then try running the game again.
3rd-Party Software - Pop-up blockers, ad-blockers, and other types of software running in the background can sometimes cause problems. Turn off anything you have running in the background then try running the game again.
Gamepad/Controller Troubleshooting - If you are having trouble using a controller or gamepad when playing Rotwood, here are a couple of troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Disconnect any unused gamepads or other similar devices as they may be causing a conflict;
- Restart your computer;
- Update the firmware on your gamepad;
- Disable Steam Input for Rotwood;
- Move your mouse cursor to the corner of the screen and place your mouse on a stable, non-glass surface to prevent accidental mouse movements.
If you have tried all troubleshooting steps above and are still unable to play the game, please report your issue via the in-game report tool by pressing the F8 key on your keyboard.
Or if you are unable to do so, you can post about the issue on the Rotwood Bug Tracker.
