* I can't weave/unravel my item skins due to an error
- If you cannot weave or unravel your item skins due to a "Can't Connect To Klei" or similar error, please check to see if you have the "Too Many Items" or the "Item Queue" mods enabled and try disabling or removing them. More information on how to disable and remove mods here.
First, fully restart your computer or console - If you have a pending update for Don’t Starve Together in Steam, install it. Some users have also reported that connectivity was restored when restarting their router or modem.
Ensure that your game has been updated to the latest version by verifying the integrity of your game files on Steam, or by manually forcing your game to update on PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch.
Disable Mods It could be that one or more of the mods you have installed on Steam is causing an issue with your game. Try disabling your mods to see if that resolves your issue. Also, please check that the mod you are trying to use is compatible with your version of the game.
If you are sure that the issue is being caused by an outdated or broken mod, but unsure as to which mod is doing so, delete the mod files from your Steam folder for Don't Starve Together. Once all mod files have been deleted from your Steam folder for the game, unsubscribe all of your Don't Starve Together mods from the Steam Workshop. This will ensure that any mods that may have been causing issues or conflicts with the game are not re-installed to your computer.
Running Don't Starve Together in administrator mode can fix connection issues as well. To do that, right-click on the dontstarve_steam.exe (found in \SteamApps\Common\Don't Starve Together\bin\) and choose "Run as Administrator."
VPN or Accelerators: If you are running a VPN service or accelerator in the background, try temporarily disabling the VPN/accelerator in case this is blocking the system from connecting to our servers.
Connectivity may be blocked by your security software (Mcafee, Norton, AVG, Avast, etc). You can temporarily disable these services to see if it fixes the issue. If you wish to keep using these services you may need to add an exception for Don’t Starve Together. These services try to prevent rogue programs from communicating with outside servers, but may sometimes flag software as rogue.
Try resetting your router, and ensure that your router's firmware has been updated to the latest version. You will be able to find the firmware updates on your router manufacturer's website.
Try connecting via wired internet if you are currently on Wi-Fi, If you are encountering connection/server issue while playing on Wi-Fi, try connecting your device to the internet directly through an Ethernet cable instead. Wi-Fi connections can sometimes be inconsistent depending on the location, other users consuming bandwidth the load, and how strong the signal is.
Check with your Internet Service Provider, ensure that your internet service provider is not having any issues with their service for in your area. You can also contact your ISP for technical assistance with connection issues if you are still encountering slower connections with various games and services.
Windows also comes with a built-in Firewall. This service stops rogue programs from communicating with the outside world. This is usually a helpful feature, but occasionally it may block a program you want to have internet access on. You would need to add an exception to your firewall to allow Don’t Starve Together to communicate with the outside world.
