If you encounter any kind of issue while playing Mark of the Ninja (Classic) and require support either through the forums or through our support desk, here are a number of steps you can do and files you may want to include that will help provide us with more details about your game's performance issues.
Verifying the Integrity of your Game Files
Verifying the integrity of your game files on Steam ensures that there are no game files missing and corrupted files are re-downloaded and replaced.
- Right-click Mark of the Ninja in your Steam Games Library and choose "Properties"
- A new, smaller window will pop-up; click on the "Installed Files" tab;
- Click on the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button to run it.
- Close the "Properties" window and restart Steam.
- Run Mark of the Ninja
DXDiag
The DXDiag.txt report will help us by giving us your information about your hardware. In order to get a DXDiag.txt on WindowsXP or more recent operating systems:
- Click on your Start button
- Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to access the "Run" window
- On the new window, type in dxdiag.exe and press enter; this will open up the DirectX diagnostic tool
- Click on the "Save All Information" tab on the diagnostic tool
- A "Save As..." window will pop up where you can click on save. It will save your hardware information as a document to your desktop (default).
- Close the diagnostic tool and attach the new document to your forum post or support ticket
Enable Logging
If you are encountering crash issues, enabling logging will aggregate and create a log file in your Mark of the Ninja folders.
- Right-Click on Mark of the Ninja in your Steam Game library and choose "Properties"
- Select "Set Launch Options..." and type in "-enablelog" without the quotes;
- Click "OK" and launch Mark of the Ninja
After that, you can run the game, and it should create log files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\mark_of_the_ninja\log" (or similar, depending on where you've installed Steam). After the game crashes, post the aggregate.log file to your forum thread or support ticket.
MDMP File
Another file that can be helpful to provide us with is your .MDMP file. It should be located in your Steam folders in the Mark of the Ninja "bin" folder.
