The Klei Creator Program is intended to provide a way for us to thank content creators for their support by helping them engage with their fans when creating content centered around our games.
This program is intended for creators of all sizes; however, to maintain the program's intention, we ask that creators be reasonably established in the community before participating.
Creators that are accepted are expected to confirm the following.
- You understand that benefits provided by the Creator Program are not guaranteed and may be discontinued at any time.
- You understand that participation in the Creator Program is not an endorsement nor does it constitute a business relationship with Klei Entertainment.
- You understand that you are to remain a community member in good standing and while not bound by Klei’s Community Guidelines, you will act in good faith with other community members and Creators.
- Klei expects nothing in return as a member of the program. However, we do expect members to act in good faith and may remove benefits from the program if we believe the program is being misused or your behavior is harmful to the community.
When you sign up, we will review your application. If approved, you will be added to our program and provided a link to the Creator Discord server where you can find additional information about the program.
FAQ
Who is allowed to participate in the program?
Anybody who is a content creator that occasionally features Klei games while also making a consistent effort to provide meaningful content for their audience or community. While this generally applies to recorded video and streaming platforms, we may also allow some Creators to offer unique content through other means.
Are there any content guidelines?
The Creator program is not intended as an endorsement of the content of any given Creator. As such, we do not directly require or enforce our own content guidelines on the Creator program at this time. That being said, we do require that Creators follow the rules and guidelines set forth on their respective platform and we expect participation in good faith with the Creator program and the video gaming community as a whole.
To put it plainly, follow the rules of your platform and don’t use the Creator program for reasons outside of its intended purpose of growing and rewarding your audience.
What do I get by being an Creator?
At the core, you get a more direct and clear communication channel with Klei. Mostly, this means you will be invited to a private Discord server where you can discuss or collaborate with other Creators as well as get information about upcoming events, updates, betas or other promotional opportunities.
Most Creators will also get access to streaming drops, which will allow you to provide rewards for watching your stream on platforms that support it.
In addition, Creators with sufficient audience sizes will be given access to a special Klei Creators reward page that will give you a sort “allowance” of keys to give away to your audience.
What exactly is this Allowance?
This is a new system that we’re still working out, so it will likely change. Creators that meet a minimum audience size requirement will be provided points that accumulate through real-time (not stream time) with a maximum monthly total. Those points can be used to redeem codes that can be given to your audience however you see fit. This is a tiered system that is based on your audience size and established presence on your platform and in the community.
What are these codes and what do I do with them?
They may be game beta codes, full game or DLC codes (various platforms), in-game skins or basically anything we can give a code out for.
We don’t really care how you use them. Keep them for yourself, give them to your moderators or VIPs or hang on to them for some special event. The only thing that we ask is that they are used with the intention of growing your audience.
What’s the catch?
There’s no catch. We aren’t asking you to stream our games more often. We don’t want to encourage you to “go all in” on our games. We don’t even ask you to be a fan. We just want to show our appreciation for our content creators for their support by helping them connect with their fans.
What do I need to do to be accepted?
This program is new, so this is likely to change with some time. But right now we are asking that content creators have been streaming somewhat regularly for at least 1 year while in good standing with their platform. We have no current audience size requirement, for general acceptance in the program. We don’t need it to be your career, but we do want to know you’re not just doing it to get free stuff.
What happens if I only play Klei Games every once in a while?
Nothing. If you’re part of the program and you just dip in and out from time to time, that’s up to you. However, if it appears that you’re just claiming the free stuff for yourself, we might bump you down to a non-reward tier. If you’re given the codes out to your audience while playing some other game, that’s up to you.
Are you tracking us?
Not in any way that isn’t just monitoring publicly accessible information. We are keeping track of when you stream our games or how often you're generating content for the sake of avoiding abuse of the program.
